We had this recording at a breakfast joint in town near the hunting spot, so don't mind all the background mess! We Went out on a public lbs quail hunt with the new pup, Andrew White who is a farm bill biologist with pheasants and quail forever and his pup Chief. We had a quick 2 hour hunt and got on a few coveys and got 7 birds! We talk about the hunt, how well Millie the pup did, and then move on to quail population numbers and al sorts of other good educational stuff about wildlife management and conservation practices! EP 49: Strnded! What to do when a hunt goes south.

September 25th, 2016

I was joined by George Hedgepeth who is a primitive skills, gathering, tool and weapon making and hunting teacher and has done so for over a decade now, to talk about what you can do to prepare for being stranded in a hunting situation out west.
Some things I always keep in mind are water and fire are a must to have, always have a lighter, flint and steel with magnesium, a solid container you can boil water in and transfer, a compass, a good sharp knife, and I always take jerky and granola bars along when I'm on extended hunts. We go over a lot more detail in the show so give er a listen!
You can find some of Georges handy works here:http://briarpatchoutdoors.educationforthesoul.com/

thanks for listening and hope you enjoyed!
